you can also get 330+ out of the old cathedral ports to. The LS2 ovals only get to around 320. But the port work is a hell of alot cheaper

Only if your planning on making a butt load of power (1000+), for the money, (as long as you plan to boost) the LQ4/ LSII 6.0 iron block would be a better bet, because you can get the whole motor in running condition for 2500 or so, and in stock form it will hold almost 600 rwhp, so you could get started for pretty cheap. The down side being that they are not boost friendly in stock form, but all this is obvious. The main thing being that you can make big power, cheap with alot less boost compared to a modular and alot more reliably with a better power band

I want a faster car, and the car payment is putting quite a damper on my social life, no money to go out and do things, doing this would free up my paychecks for when I need them, or when i don't allow me to sink it into the project, I'd be fine without a fast car for a year as long as I had something to work on I can also drive my dads 07gtcs when i feel the need. Working on it is half the fun for me.

Ok bro, to put it in perspective...I understand you wanting to sell the Cobra. It does make financial sense. However to build even a basic late model track car you're looking at the following (especially if you want it to be TRACK legal):

Full cage: +/- $1500-3000
Track Wheels: $1000 used, up to 2500 new
Fire Suit/Helmet: 500-750 (may need depending on how fast you go)
Engine: Big variable...but plan on at least 3-6K
Heads: +/- 1K - 3K 4V's a little more
Power adder: 500-1K For a GOOD N20 kit 3-7K for blower or turbos
Exhaust: At least 1K
Tranny/Converter: 1500 used or around 3-4K new
Rear End: 1K in parts to make it track ready (including tq box reinforcements)
Suspension: Anywhere from 2-5K depending on variables
Accesories/Safety: Line Lock/Ignition/2 Step/Seats/Harnesses etc...1500-2K
Tuning: at least 500 MINIMUM but more like 1500-2500
The car itself: Guesstimate - 2K

And the total of this ordeal (if you stay on the cheap side of things):
$17,000 for a N20 car or $20,000 - $25,000 for a blown/turbo car. Get all new stuff and you could be at 50 grand before you know it. And there are things that I left out on purpose...

To get my car where it is now has cost me over $21000 and I did all of the labor (installing turbos/driveline/suspension). Add labor to most of that and it would be double that if not more.

The point is, track cars are expensive. It costs money to race ...period. The advantage is, you don't have to pay all at once for it. You can take as long as you need to build it. But it's no fun wrenching on something for months and never get anywhere, or come out and stare at it. You already have a good car. I think you should just drive it and enjoy it, mod it when you have the money. But if you MUST sell it...then go for it, just know what you're getting into financially.

^^ that was a good breakdown of parts and cost definitely. I totally get it, the plan, is to get something with a decent base motor that can be built when funds are available. I'm not going to build it with many new parts, mostly used, going to sit and wait for deals, take my time, do it right. After talking to some people I've widened my idea from just late model mustangs to alot more muscle cars. I really miss my 67 maybe this would be a good opportunity for me to get another.

If I were you, I'd take the 7k and pay down on the car, then refi it, and keep the termi.

That car, you will regret getting rid of it! You'll stand around when people are talking about their cars, and you'll talk about the termi and then have to 'splain why you got rid of it.

You only live once! Enjoy your car, and in a few years, buy another 6er and build it up.

Save up a few grand more and buy a commuter car. Then you can keep the Cobra and have something more practical to drive to and from wherever. Plus, you can work on the Cobra at your leisure, since you won't have to worry about having a car for Monday morning.

I've got what you need....

$7500. and I am nearby too. and like mentioned above it is also a convertible so just throw in your surfboard...

1998 SVT Cobra Convertible. 77k miles, no accident carfax, flood title issued at 7k miles (70,000 miles ago, I pulled the car apart 5 years ago when I first bought it to check for water lines, dirt, mud or anything else, and did not find anything out of the ordinary.) so I bought it drove it about 2 years, sold it to a friend he drove it for three years and recently replaced some items and dropped about $2500 in it, then needed some cash so I bought it back, and dropped $600+ on new stereo system.

Email me if you'd like... ron@fastcoolcars.com possible trades, I am looking for a 4 door late model truck. I've got a ski/pleasure boat I can also trade with as well.
