ringing sound from the rear

Default ringing sound from the rear

hey guys i just installed a irs under my car last week and i have been noticing i high pitched ringing sound coming from the right rear of the car now when im doing between 30-45 mph and was woundering if anybody has experienced this or knows what it could be and how to fix it

Might that be the back lash in the gears? I'd almost have to hear the noise!

gears were supposedly professionally installed the rear was taken out of the worlds fastest land speed mustang everything in it is aftermarket. heres the list of aftermarket stuff
richmond 3.73 gears, locker(dunno what brand), kenny brown brace, aluminum control arm bushings, solid front case bushings , cover brace and i believe upgraded axels (ii dunno if they are l-5 but they are some big motherhunkers)

I have a friend that had Richmond 3.73's professionally install and has made a slight whining noise since day one...

Could be a brake shield that got bent and is rubbing against the rotor. Check to make sure nothing is making contact with the rotor on that side.

im going to check that i have also read that the half shaft nuts come loose . i want to check mine how tight are they supposed to be torqued to ?

i have also heard that richmonds whine alittle...and the dust shield is a good idea the same thing happened to me and i thought i had a shot bearing but it was just the shield scraping my rotor

Just happened across this thread. I had my gears installed professionally and they "ran out" of friction modifier for the Traction Lock. The ringing was at around town speeds and it made some fugly sounds when turning too. Took it back to them next day and since then I've had no problems since. Hope this helps.
