Yeah I read about a lot of problems with KB's

not to mention they look like a shoebox lol. People talking about breaking the pulley bolt, seals blowing out, consuming oil, rotors scoring, etc etc..scared me away

Ok I bought a 2.3 whipple last night and got a heck of a package deal. I couldn't pass it up. The buy told me to get a 6lb lower pulley. My question is do I have to buy a kit or can I just the pulley ?

I'd just go with an upper if I were you.

Edit - sounded retarded. Didn't answer your question lol.

Well you would need the hub and the right size ring, which can be pricey. Part of the reason I said upper..easier to change, more affordable, more options for size.

I am trying not to spend $400 on lower pulley kit if I do not need it. I was told I could buy the ring, then I was told I had to buy the whole kit because of belt slipping.

I wish I could get a Whipple and retain my B-heads but I'm stuck with the KB 2.1L as my only option (for twin screws anyway).

Unless. . . any of you know of a way to mount up a Whipple without swapping on either the C or '03-'04 heads. (e.g. an adapter plate)

Does the Tork Tek adapter work for your cars?

No, they're pretty much geared for the 2v guys, and they're also developing stuff for the 3v's too. I figure if I were ever to attempt this it'd end up being a costly custom job. I guess in the end a C swap would be in order.

Not too big a deal, I found a set of complete '04 Aviator heads for $400+shipping. I was just hoping to save myself that much more work.
