1999 Cobra Fuel Pump Testing
Still working on getting my 99 Cobra back on the road and am having fuel pump issues. Car has been sitting for a period of time and I want to drain the old fuel from the tank. Fuel filter has been removed but can't get the fuel pump to activate. Is there a way to check voltage to the fuel pump without dropping the tank? There is good voltage to the inertia switch and it seems to be in good condition. Located the fuel pump relay in the passenger wheel well, but have not pulled it or tested it yet. Thought I would start at the pump and test for voltage at that point and then work back. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I had to replace 2 fuel pumps on the same car one in 2009 and 2010. I let the car sit over the winter didn't turn it on. I think they went bad because of the cold and not being used. But I don't know if its your problem.
Hey Silver, thanks for the post. This car has sat for several years and I am thinking the fuel pump is bad. I have changed all the fluids but it still has about a quarter tank of gas and want to get it pumped out. I have removed the fuel filter but can't get the pump to run. When you replaced the fuel pump, where exactly did you find the harness connector. Is the connector accessible without dropping the tank? I wanted to try putting power directly to the pump to see if it works.
