Ok looking at some places and Advance Auto parts sells a replacement alternator for 209.99 and it has 105 amps max (i believe its max becuase thats the only number it gives me) then Americanmuscle.com has a "performance" alternator that puts out 70 amps at idle and 130 max accelerating. They have it for sale for $259.99. So my question is it worth buying a replacement one from advance or buying a performance one or should i just get a junk yard one from a totalled svt.

Also at my shop we have a "smart" charger so i am going to put my battery on the charger and it will tell me if its either good, shorted cell, low mixture of distilled water to acid, or just bad. So if that says all green lights then it must be alternator. I know its not a fuse obviously.

Yeah if you dont want to get stranded replace it asap luckily my friend had AAA so go a free tow. The one I bought was from pa performance.. Might have been from am. Advance, auto zone, pep boys all sell only refurbished alternators. I tried that first and got throught the install and it didnt work.. Go with pa performance they are the only ones I could find that were brand new and havent had a problem

My battery light came on/off for 6 months before the alternator finally went **** up.

Well hopefully mine wont die so soon, Six months is good if it survives that long. Because today i used our "smart" charger on the battery and it said its 100% good even though i just found out the brand and its walmart brand grrrrrr. But i just found out our smart charger also check the alternator so i am going to do that tomorrow. So if it is the alternator i found a good one on americanmuscle, but what is pa performance? I am glad i was told thast advance and all just restore alternators.

i got a advanced model, and it seems just fine so far. Keeps perfect charge hot or cold out.
