1996 Cobra body mod idea...
I have a 1996 Cobra that I have owned for 12 years. The other day a concept for a body mod popped in my head. It is a very simple concept that is pretty obvious and has probably actually been done.
The idea is...if Ford had "shelbys" made from the 1994-1998 era mustangs. So taking cues from the existing classic Shelby's and applying to my 1996 Cobra making a "1996 Shelby GT500".
I'd personally take the Hood Scoop from the 1967 Shelby, the 1968 hood comes in a close second. I'd also like to do something with the Spoiler to replicate the look of the classic Shelby's. I think i'd leave the front alone because no other 96 mustang has the same bumper cover as the Cobra. I'd put lower covers over the quarter fender scoops but not the upper ones, simply because I haven't seen an example of one that I thought looked good enough. Of course it would have to have "Shelby Stripes". My car is white so the Classic Blue stripes would be perfect. A set of sequential tail lights would be cool too. Also some Wheels that look modern but have some hint of the classic Shelby wheels. Since my interior is Black a brushed Alum trim kit would be a nice touch.
I think that would make for an awesome looking car.

i don't care for stripes much... esp not on anything after the 60s....Umm... sounds uhh interesting but the problem is the newer mustangs are modeled after the older ones so they can do the classic touches.... but the sn-95 bodystyle is too round and the bodylines of the 60s stangs would not match and look horrible... thats my .02.
I think its i clever and sweet idea. I mean the hood scoop will be one of a kind (if your making it with body supplies and actually making it) The stripes will be the best honestly i had the one wide stripe on my 06 and its awesome. It doesnt hurt to think of any other ideas for your cobra like saleen or roush (although thats wayyyy more common but ya know) I just wouldnt slap some ugly *** fiber glass parts on that make the car look HORRIBLE. I deal with thos stupid parts every day all day. Thay suck
yeah, I'm not a fan of that body kit either. Not really what I had in mind. I'd like to see an image of a '96 Cobra with the "Shelby Stripes" to see if I like them. the only ones I could find I know I didn't like. They either seemed too small or narrow, or too close together. I have a feeling it is a tough thing to get right.
The contours of the hood really make the Stripes hard to picture. For the stripes to be wide enough the headlights would be an issue, and the hood scoopes would make it challenging as well.
I still haven't found a hood that I think would work, or any that I think are better thent he stock one.
I will post some pictures of my car soon...so i can get your opinions.

That body kit is beyond obnoxious. There is some kid in my area trying to sell his V6 with a kit that looks really close to that, and it looks worse in person that it does in the picture.
Stock look is the BEST look as for the body goes.
That body kit made me puke in my mouth.
Only body kit that looks some what good on the SN95 is the Roush and Saleen kits.IMO
Rest destroy the Mustang look.
