Default Overheating Problems

I have an 03 Cobra i have been having overheating problems with it for the past 2 summers.

Anyway it is stored in my buddys garage for the winter and i just went a let it run for a while and went in his house and came out it was overheated again.

I think i left it running for close to a half hour you think i did any damage letting it run hot like that for that long? It was still running when i back outside.

Also why is this pos over heating all the time i have flushed and burped the system on a few occasions and it drives fine for a while then out of nowhere its spewing coolant...

this is getting old.

depends on how long it was sittin on red and how hot it actually got...youll know next time if it hurt it blew a head gasket

as far as the overheating could be a couple things...one change the thermostat! its like 17 dollars....2 make sure you actually get the system burped these cars are notorious for hiding air pockets, the steel crossover tube is where you fill it from and then still try to burp it let it get hot cool off fill hot cool off fill until it stops going down

also your radiator could be clogged and shot...flushing them is the worst thing you can do to a radiotor cause it moves everything around and clogs the fins...normally you should just drain and refill

and lastly could be a bad water bump usually the leak or sieze when the crap out in this case maybe not

^^^ Correct...it's really important to "fill the system coolant" through the Cross-Over Tube!!! ...and NOT the radiator tank!!! <----You will get air pockets!

I've changed my coolant 5 or 6 times with various projects and have never had a issue using this method!

Otherwise as stated by Blackvenom01...inspect the entire cooling system!!

Good luck!!

im not looking forward to the summer here in the desert. didnt realize how often these cars like to overheat. hopefully the water temp gauge i just installed will do its job.

are there any other recommended cooling system mods?
