First post ever! 2 questions, I just bought a 98 Cobra,stock 19000 miles. I love it! Was a chevy man, Now I know im home. I put some magna flow mufflers on and would like to put an x-pipe on with cats. Will this cause a fault code or anything? Second my friend seen the Cobra and went and bought a 03 or 04 Mach I he wants to race what do you think? I would like to put 373 ring gear in then I think I might take him. I dont know looking for some answers.

 

well, i know that aftermarket cats will give you a code fault, thats what the dealer told me when i got mine, it had the engine check light on, don't know how they fixed it.

 

Good to hear that you got a cobra! I have two of them right now. Modifications are in process on the black 97....

3.73 gears on a stock 98 will be a driver's race. Look into getting pulleys and a K&N (saying this because they are really cheap and can add some insurance to the race). The Black stang has aftermarket cats with the X-pipe. They really make a difference in the tone of the car. Probably add a few extra horses as well. The car does currently have the check engine light on. I will find out about that one in a couple of weeks, after all of the other mods are completed. I think that no matter what the outcome of the race is, you ought to feel good about the whole thing because you have a superior car and most likely you spent less then your friend did. Oh, and... I have both stock and 3.73 gears between both of my 97 cobras, and can say that the 3.73 is the perfect way to go...pulls like mad!!!
