Default Borla vs Ford Racing Catback Exhaust

I'm trying to figure out the difference between the Borla Touring Catback exhaust and the Ford Racing by Borla Touring Catback exhaust for my 2015 GT. The Borla has a midpipe resonator muffler while the Ford Racing has an x-pipe. Otherwise they're pretty much identical and both are apparently made by Borla. What I'm wondering is do they sound the same? The Borla site has a nice video that compares the Touring, S-Type and ATAK Catbacks. Touring sounds like the right amount of increased sound. Also, Edmunds installed a Ford Racing Catback on their 2015 Mustang GT long term car. Edmunds liked the Ford Racing sound a lot. What does a midpipe resonator do that an x-pipe doesn't? The live chat guy at the Borla site couldn't help. Thanks.

Interesting, I thought they were the same units pretty much. I have the Ford Racing Street cat back with x pipe and it is plenty loud outside the car and just right inside for my taste. A resonator will pull back some of the sound therefore reducing some of the resonance as the name implies. There should be a little less drone. Having said that, mine doesn't drone and I'm quite happy with it.

Warranty wise I'd go with the FR cat-back, I'll likely go with the 'sport' version. Lot of good comments on no drone too

I think the S or Sport version isn't legal in California, so is louder than the touring. I really don't want to wake up the neighbors. I would also prefer the Ford Racing version since I will probably have my Ford Dealer install it.

Had the Ford Racing by Borla Touring Catback Exhaust installed last week. Pretty much perfect improvement in sound. Local muffler shop did the install in about an hour for $90.00. One thing they recommended was a tack weld on each joint to prevent future movement. Seemed like a good idea. Just a bit of adjusting with a pry bar to center the outlets and front to back. Really worked out well.

Ken in d,
Is the 'touring' version enough of a sound increase over stock?

It's a huge increase in sound over stock. Really growls at start up and idle and roars at heavy acceleration. I couldn't be happier. Hard to imagine what the louder ones sound like. Edmund's did a long term road test of a 2015 GT and did this exact same mod. Here is a link http://www.edmunds.com/ford/mustang/...music-5-0.html. They really liked it.

Thanks for the link, that's a good cat-back review
