Not that much these days. I used to make 30+ passes a month, but these days I'm lucky to make 3 passes a month. Street races are even more rare.

Here is my opinion man and this is just my opinion so take this how you want it. I would not go with a stall until you can build your transmission, I would not use nitrous until you finish your bolt ons, I would focus on getting your car where you enjoy it on motor before you decide to add a kit. Build slowly from the ground up man, I was in the same situation as you are now, and I got carried away with trying to be the fastest and truth is you will never be the fastest plain and simple. I dumped a solid $10k into my car in a little over a year just trying to compete with everyone else's cars around here and yes I was successful at building one of the fastest street cars in my area but if I could do it all over again I wouldn't have put a dime into it and if I did I would start with the drivetrain and work my way up to the motor. My car probably makes between 525-600rwhp and over 600ft/lbs of torque on the kit, and since I failed to upgrade my drivetrain I now can't get into my car and drive it hard without having to worry about breaking a $1k part that I can't afford to replace. All said and done, I'm currently trying to depower (if that's a real word? lol) my car and get it closer to stock honestly, I had just as much fun when my car was bone stock as I do now as a 125-130mph car. Just my 2 cents man, take it how you want it.

Holy novel LOL!

Excellent post, and I couldnt agree more, man. I did the same thing with my 98 z28. Dumped over $16k in that thing and couldnt keep it running cause I couldnt keep or afford a decent trans in it. Did the whole de-mod, sold the blower and the car..lost my *** too. Thats why I wanted opinions on the nitrous. Figured it would get liitle use as to preserve the car, and is relatively cheap..but I hear ya and what you said is definitely going to be factored into the equation.

you can have a good, safe, brand new/brand name nitrous kit for under a grand. and anywhere from 100-150 whp. for someone like myself, or stone, who might go thru 5-6 bottles in a summer, there is really no point in going any other route. I have about 750 into my nitrous stuff but the only thing i bought new was my controller. 200 for that, 350 for my kit, and 100 for my heater, and 100 into my bottle mount, but obviously a billet mount isn't necessary. but when you have a kick *** looking bottle it helps show it off LOL

I'm the opposite guys. I didn't fix it til it broke. Maybe I just lucked up on my '98 car, but nothing got fixed until it was broke.

Now, after going through several stock to highly mod'ed cars, I would NEVER do it again. If I were you Stone, and wanted a fast car, I'd sell your SS and buy one that's already setup the way you want it with the power you want. You're basically throwing money into a fire by making the car faster. Might as well buy someone else's fortune for a tenth of the price. Guys get burnt out or run out of money all the time.

I'm just wondering if 2-3 bottles a year is even enough to do much damage. I'm still on a stock stall and street tires, and I always let the trans cool for an hour between runs.

if you intend to spray anything 100+ then you will need a DR plain and simple, even from a roll.

I'm really just looking to touch 11s, mid 11s to 11.7 preferably. Close to 120 traps if possible. Basically all I'm looking to do is hang in there with pulleyed Cobras, tuned 5.0s, c5 Zo6, etc. I'm not looking to yank the front wheels off the ground or anything. If the trans does go, *** it, I can dig into my cash box and rebuild it to hold. Don't want to, but I can if it happens.

I'm afraid you are right. 555Rs should hold it.
