Default 6rwhp gains

Im looking at buying a throttle body that claims to have 6rwhp dyno proven results on a f/I engine. Since I'm x charged now I figure it might be to my advantage but howich more noticeable is 6rwhp? Will my throttle response improve? If so how noticeable is that? Indor want to drop cash on it unless its worth it

6rwhp? Not likely to notice anything... if it changes throttle response you will notice otherwise just another mod to add on to the list. Eventually they add up to some solid gains.

Why not ask this in the tech section?

On the v8 3-valve people were always having issues with them and it wasn't worth the hassle.

But yeah, what s8er01z said is right, you'd have to delude yourself to think you can feel a difference in the power. Throttle response, dunno if it will improve or not.

It's a fairly cheap mod right? like $100 or less? might not be terrible if you want to get every bit out of it, as long as the v6s dont have the issue the v8s of the same year had with aftermarket throttle bodies.

If I were you though i'd save up for some new pistons, i believe those are the weak link on the 4.0. i think after pistons people are able to hit 400-415whp right? that's pretty good stuff right there. after that i'd try to get every little bit of hp out of it and call it done.

You know what mod made me feel like i had better throttle response? aluminium driveshaft, noticed a big difference when i removed it in my 07, felt so sluggish when i pushed on the gas initially. i guess it just transferred power to the wheels better/faster with less power loss. That's also one of those mods that id only do if i had nothing left to do though. pretty expensive for the gains ($600+)

This is actually a really good point. I don't know what throttle body the OP is looking at, but let's say a throttle body is about $300 and requires a retune. The base water-meth kit from AIS is $300, but you don't have to tune for it if you do not want to. However, if you do, you can get some pretty healthy gains. More importantly, it's like a safety blanket, helping keep temps down and the car running more efficiently as engine, track and ambient temps rise. The only issue with tuning for water-meth is, if you run out of go juice while using the tune: boom, there goes the motor. Just have to make sure you have a full tank, or just always have juice in the tank, if tuning for it. I've got a 3 quart tank mounted in my trunk, but more for 20-30 minute sessions out on the road course.

Edit: the base water-meth kit from AIS is $280, not $300. I looked at AM for a V6 throttle body...$310.

The more I think about this, $310 is too much money for just 6whp and no other added benefit. And think about this: what is 6whp anyway? Dyno numbers fluctuate all the time. That 6whp can be wiped out from dyno-to-dyno. If one wants to make 6whp, go get a couple pulls on a cold day. If someone is actually feeling 6whp on their butt dyno, it's more psychological than anything.
