justin that's gotta be one of the greatest things i've ever seen! LOL.

3vstang, not sure on actual traps. car did 118 with the previous owner, i'd guess i could get a 120 now, and maybe 122 after i do my straight axle/3.73 swap next weekend.

I havnt been to frequent on the forum lately. So I don't know what was done to the car when you bought it, but I was going to say with your current mod list the car is definately capable of a 120 trap. That straight axle gear combo will really help you out as long as long as you can hook.

As far as you vs the zl1 I would predict you pulling him from a dig and still from a roll. I don't see you having any issues unless it's way way up in the tripple digits. Those 4vs pull hard. Then again i havent seen all that much from the zl1 yet, but I still foresee you as the victor. Good luck man, keep us posted.

The Camaro guys excuse the crappy 1/4 mile ZL1 times by saying it's not a drag car, it's a track car. But for $50k, I'd expect a muscle car to be able to beat a 5.0 with just an intake and tune.

I think the ZR1 could 'beat' that 5.0 in almost everything else on the track. Do you think people buy a 50k car just to focus on a quarter mile race?

I think you have your cars confused. I ZL1 will bitch slap a 5.o! It'll have it's hands full with the new 5.8 in the twisties and it'll be seeing tail lights in a straight line.

maybe not, if the best times out of them are low 12's, then an intake and tune on a 5.0 can do that in the 1/4. zl1 will still trap higher than the 5.0 but not by much. that'd be an interesting race imo.

I know a 2010 LS3 SS averages 108-110 traps with a good driver, and can trap 111 mph. So I'm still highly skeptical that a ZL1 with 160 more horses, a superior torque curve, and advanced suspension mods have shown what they can really do yet if they're only running 116 or less. Idk, maybe it is what it is, but I'm questioning all this at the moment. I really dont see why a car with that much power couldnt clear 118 mph in the 1/4.

I think it is a similar problem with the new GT500 as well. It boils down to traction, imo. If there was another common acceleration test that did not have as much of a dependance on traction (example, 60-140 versus 0-60 or 0-1320ft), then the ZL1 should really shine.

I'm thinking the same thing. Most of the vids I've seen of the ZL1 trying to accelerate show the driver on and off the throttle until the car is moving out pretty good. Going to take someone very good with the car or a set of tires to do much with it in a straight line.

Most of the tune 5.0s are 114--115 traps. The ZL1 is trapping 118 or better from what im reading. Haven't actually confirmed this with my own eyes yet.
