I am having the same problem but my mustang is a 94 5.0 i've been told it might be the water pump but im not sure. What was wrong with yours?

mine is doing the same thing its a 95 auto, it stays on the R sometimes then starts gradually climing until the L i dunno what it is im thinking its the Thermo. but i dunno where its located cause thats prolly the problem i flushed and filled the radiator can anyone fill me in its bugging me and the oil is fine

Just throwing this out in the open. Lot of you guys with problems have the older cars, the radiator itself may be the culprit. If it hasn't been flushed like it should it could be getting clogged not disipating the heat like it should. On my 97 I have to replace the radiator, when I drain the coolant it barely drains. Plus, my friend replaced his and everything is back to normal.

I am well aware of that, but Ford had a recall on them as well. Most of the headgaskets were probably replaced before they got there cars. Plus if there oil looks fine and coolant is fine, the headgaskets sound fine. Only way to know for sure is to pressurize the system and see if it leaks at all, if it does not leak, no headgasket problem.
