Default New Rims and Lowering question

My 2002 Mustang has stock 15 inch rims, I plan on getting custom rims, but there's not a large selection of 15 Wheels. I would like to go with some 17's or 18's, and plan on lowering my car as well. I would like to know what size I can go up to, with future lowering of 1-1.5 inches? Would I have to do anything else after I lower the tang or before?

You will be fine with either the 17's or 18's with the 1-1.5 inch drop.

OK, so if he's going to be fine with that much of a drop, how about a 2.0-2.7 inch drop for my 88??
