I was wondering I have a mac CAI made for my 98, if I do the splitport swap (basically swappin the top of the engine) would i have to change to a later year mac cai?

 

depends, a 94-01 CAI will work, if you get the heads off a 02-03 it wont

 

well my mac cai says only 96-98 on autobadges.com

single port has more restrictive airflow than splitport your car has splitport setup actually 99+ are all splitport engines

 

Yes, you will, the TB on the 94-98 comes directly out of the upper intake and forms a roughly 90 degree angle, the 99-04s come directly off the intake and form a 60 or so degree angle, so the upper end of the pipe, or the one that connects to the tb would have to be changed.

 

cool thx jthorn I'm getting my splitport kit w/ ported heads/intakes new cam n i guess now a new MAC CAI at the end of the month ill keep you guys posted
