Why a v6???
Im 18 and have been saving my money up for some time. I have enough to buy a v6 mustang but not the v8 that I want, because the insurance is ridiculous and theres some waivor I'd have to sign because I'm under 25 and my parents wont let me get a v8 anyway. My friends are already giving me **** about gettin a "sissy" v6 mustang. My other option is buying a golf gti vr6, its faster than the v6 mustang. Im not going to be doing too much racing except goin to the track a few times with my friends. I dont know if I should spend the money on a mustang or the gti? Can someone give me some pros about the stang? Thanks for replies!
First car? Then in all honesty....don't be lookin at a RWD vehicle at all.
Not? Time to learn, and learn with something that won't kill you like a V8 will.
Why a 'stang? Well.....I dunno. I'd go cheap....and domestic, but that's my upbringing.

I just got back from the dealership and drove the v6 and v8. The v8 was just for fun even though I knew I couldn't get it, but it was awesome. The v6 was obviously less impressive but I knew that goin into the car. Im only 18 and I think I'm goin to get the v6. I've got 2 grand to spend on upgrades so I'll try and make it a little faster. When I was on the test drive with the car salesman, I was waitin at a stoplight with the v8 and an eclipse pulled up next to me reving his engine. The saleman just laughed and told me not to do anything stupid. I was about to drop the clutch and take him

Are you sure a bird has the same engine? Never seen a HO bird. My 88 5.0 is a low output version, something like 150 HP. Lots of torque make up for it some, but it is in no means fast. And its heavy as hell.

t-bird isnt ho and this site shows the differences

hate to tell you but the engine in my old 92 Sport had the HO engine... my eyes don't decieve. The Thunderbird Sport is the only tbird made with the HO engine... the rest were non-ho or 6 cyl or recently 4.6 SOHCs.... I know my birds... I've owned an 88 TC, an 92 Sport, a 95 LX, and a 97 LX.
EDIT: The big difference between a tbird and a stang is the spark plug angle.... that's why most stang heads won't fit on birds. The intake was obviously different but can be swapped... The Sport version is by far the cloest to the stang... therefore thats the reason why I offered the advice of getting one... because he'll have a 302 HO without the higher insurance.
EDIT 2: Oh yeah... and the Sport only came in an auto... but you can swap a manual in... it's a pia though... I've seen it done a few times... but I never did because I just didn't have the money.

If you had to choose between a 2003 v6 stang or a 2002 v6 camaro which would you pick? Thats pretty much what I'm down to here. I havent gotten a chance to drive the Camaro yet, but I was just wondering for an opinion. Most opinions will probably be for the stang condsidering the site I posted this on, but I'm just lookin for some feedback.
Most of 'em'll say the ford......because well....they're ford guys.
I'm a GM/Mopar guy by raising......so I'm gonna say camaro to go against the grain.
Test drive both of 'em, see which you like the best, and check out insurance rates/recalls on them first.
AND TAKE IT TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BEFORE YOU BUY IT! ALWAYS!
