Default paint chipping

On my 97 there is a small like ridge square that goes about a 1/2 foot around the license plate. It is part of the trunk. Well there was a little chip in that ridge and now it is getting progressivly larger and continuously chipping. Is there anything i can do to stop it from getting bigger?

I know this may not be the best section but i wanted replies

but a new paint job is costly and im not interested in buying mods for my backend, i was looking moreso for something that is also cost efficient, but i do appreciate all input so thanks.

is there anything to put on the chip to seal it and prevent it from spreading?

My car is chipping all over. Its getting really bad under the front bumper. I've just learned to live with it and not look at it.
