i have dual flows now and i like them but i was looking at getting high flow cats. Im not sure how strict nc is on smog but it seems like alot of restriction with 4 cats on my car. Would i be ok with 2 cats in NC or would i have to get all 4? And is it worth the money to get all 4?

Okay, a setup with no cats needs the following: MIL eliminators which can be bought at steeda for $65 and they are simple snap on. Use the same o2 sensor. Go with your choice of muffler and i would reccomend a custom or bought x-pipe, and ake sure all tubing is 2.5 inches, my installer told me it would be a joke and there would be no gain if i put 2.25 inch piping. Thats all you need if your taking off the cats.

Do you have smog testing in NC, if not i would definently take off the cats because a cop cant prove that you dont have your cats off because there is no smog testing therefore you cant get busted. About 7 of my friends have their cats off and not one got busted.. gotta love you rights[8D][8D]

ok..Verado, I am not slamming you, just making a little correction..
It's not the cops you have to worry about too much with the cats. It's the smog tech. If your state has manditory smog checks, and the state takes it seriously, like California...you will need the same amount of cats as the car came withy. In some states...*coughCALIcough*, if the smog tech sees ANYTHING modified without a C.A.R.B sticker, or anything missing..you fail automatically without the sniffer even being put in the tailpipe. PLUS, the information goes to the main computers in Sacramento, and they CAN make you go through a smog inspection YEARLY instead of every 2 years.
Here's my best advice for Betty. Find a car club in your area, or go to the drag strip, or an autocross event. Talk to the ppl there with modified cars. Ask them if they have any hassles getting thier cars smogged. DO NOT just talk to one person. Talk to as many as you can. I mean, the one guy you ask may have a friend who looks past such things. Do some research. THEN make your decision.

Got ya. I was basing it on his state not having smog testing.
Cali is so strict on all this epa BS.
But if your state doesnt have smog testing, nothing can be done right?

Yea watch the Flowmaster bashing, my GT has flows............................................. .............and they're comming off and either Mags are going on them, or some other brand. Well, I can't decipher Harvs clip as it doesn't play too well on my computer, but I will say this much, if you want the best sound possible, then go with Magnaflows on a off road x or h (if you want a louder sound) pipe, but Flowmasters will be a good second, but after that, I don't reccomend anything else for sixers.

Have you ever taken your car to a place where a guy inspects it and puts somthing that looks like a pressurewasher gun in your exhaust pipe?? If so, you state has smog testing and i wouldnt touch the cats, unlesss you can get highflow ones that will pass smog.

Naw...the state does approve some parts. Any part that may change the engine performance here must come with a C.A.R.B sticker. The sticker is issued by the California Clean Air Resaource Board, and has a number assigned to the manufacturer for specific parts. The thing is, if you put on a part not certified, they can fail you in a smog test, and make you go and buy the correct part before they pass it. And if you fail, the state won't issue you new tags for regristration until you correct the problem. It sucks..and we are the worst state in the WORLD for smog testing.
