Painting
I just bought front and rear GT bumpers for my 95 sixer, the only problem is they are red and my car is dark green. What is the best way to paint them, like sand them down and go to a paint shop to get them to match the paint and then spray paint a couple of coats on it, or what. I don't wnat to get it professionally done because there is no point seeing how its just the bumpers.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Anyways, you won't get the best coverage (even) with spray paint. Even if it's matched, hand held cans don't have a consistent enough spray pattern to give you a decent look.
You could do all the prep work yourself (sanding, priming, etc) since that is what most of the labor in a paint job is. Let a shop then spray the parts for you and then you can do the finishing work (wet sanding etc) be sure to have them do the clear coat too after you do the color sanding.
Doing the prep work yourself and the finish work yourself will take the sting out of the professional painting part.

i hear macco (sp?) does really cheap paint jobs. its professional, on a poor person's budget. just dont expect much from it. although itll probably turn out 1000x better than any home concoction.
The reason I'm getting these bumpers is because my fornt one is cracked and my rear one has a huge scratch/scuff mark courtesy of someone in a parking lot hitting me. I;m also getting them because they are the cheapest I can find, 20$ Canadian for both, so I can't go wrong seeing how junkyards want in the area of 120$ for both.
I would say leave the rear bumper on there and bolt on the new front one and take it to maaco if you aren't looking to spend a whole lot... It will look better than spray paint, because like posted before, it is VERY difficult to get it to spray evenly and consistantly. Then sell the Gt rear for more than what you paid to get some compensation back.
