Default Stock with cat removed?

Just wondering if anyone has done it or heard it. What does the stock exhaust (sure it's not the actual one it came with from the factory, but you get the picture) on a '96 3.8 sound like with the cat removed? Any power increase? Mileage increase? Just wondering..

I used to not have cats, but that was with duals and an x-pipe. I have never heard a stock system w/o cats though.

I'm thinking about getting it taken off just for ****s and giggles...see what it sounds like. Worst thing that can happen is that it ends up sounding like a ricer..haha..I think it would sound decent though, better than stock..and it would flow better.

I would have to say, though, on the stock system what holds the flow back would be the y-pipe joining and not so much the cats. It will be A LOT louder w/o cats.

u wont get an actual power increase, ull free up alot of power u already have. the thing is IT SOUNDS REALLY RICEY, ive heard it many times. what u want to do is take them off along with the y pipe. go duals with either an off road x-pipe or h-pipe, i preferr x-pipe becuase i think u can actually hear the change, more sound. neither one is actually needed for back pressue in a V6 cuz it has an even firing order. then ull get the best sound with a chambered muffler, like either flowmaster or magna flow. i dont know about borla, but i do know that u should stay away from loud mouth and gt take offs, they sound terrible on a 6er.
