that statement shouldn't surprise you... Import V6s are running HP numbers at or higher than GT numbers... it's all about money... they can make the V6 numbers at or just below the GT numbers... but that would make a good amount of people say screw the GT and just buy the V6... it's all about money... they want you to step up and buy a GT... then step up and buy a Cobra........

Get all the bolt up mods and rear gears. That will get rid of the doggyness. Then get into some top end mods. Heads, valves, intakes, cam etc. and really wake it up. The 3.8 is intentionally choked by Ford to reduce HP's but if you open it back up 3.8's are a blast.
Im brand spankin new to this stuff. Could someone please explain what each of these mod's are? Or expand a bit so I can do some searches on them. I just got a 97 v6 over the weekend, and I'm surprised at the statement "the 3.8 is intentionally choked by Ford". Im not sure what that means, but I'm going to find out. Incidentally, I also want to power this car up. So any advice along those lines would be appreciated.
Just read everything down below in my sig. If you have a manual trans then don't worry about the Auto trany stuff. What I mean by "choked" is like krusher says. If Ford put the correct porting in the heads, intakes, exhaust ports, valves, etc. ,etc. they would be putting out another 50 hp's easy.

I work in Windsor at Ford I have worked in each plant, we have 2 engine plants and in the one call E.E.P (Essex Engine Plant) there is a guy who work in the dyno lab "Jimmy Chung" he has squeeze alot of HP out of these engines. So much so he was told by DEARBORN not to be fooling around like that any more. I will try to talk to him later and get some info. Right now I'm at W.E.P. (Windsor Engine Plant)

Sorry for leaving you hanging if you are intrested but I want to get his words...........

all of ford engines are choked of power, its ford its what they do best. i mean come on if ne one ever really did any looking into. ok lets compare some notes of mine...
93 Mustang 2.3L about 100hp @Flywheel
93 Beretta 2.3L about 180hp @flywheel
ford does it so people will buy, as said earlier the higher priced cars, or spend twice as much on ford performance parts in one way or another. just something that gets to me is why tho. but meh, what ya gonna do about it.
