2000 Mustang won't start
I have a 2000 mustang 3.8L. A few weeks ago it was backed into in the parking lot. Since then I have been having troulbe getting started. It wouldn't crank over. If I got it to crank over, it would be in the morning or at night when it was cool outside. I tried resetting the fuel pump switch a couple days ago and this only made it worse. Now the gas is not getting to the car and not starting up at all. Anybody have any ideas about this???
Battery. Replace it. If the OE one is in there then its 6 years old. Batteries on average only last about 5 years max. Take your battery out of your car and take it to sears or where ever they can do a LOAD TEST. Its important that they load test it because, it simulates the same load thats put on it when youre trying to start the car. Most places will only put a voltmeter on it, and theyll sayits good, even when its not. Go to sears its the best place, not to mention the warranty on diehard batteries is one of the best out there.

Battery - Most likely the source of your problem, only thing is that it shoud recharge itself after it starts, but if it's Ford factory, then it's old and needs to be replaced.
Alternator - If it cranks, but strains to run, it could be that the alternator is having a problem and isn't supplying your engine with the necessary power.
Spark Plugs and Wires - If it's struggling to start and acts like it's carring a boulder when you drive it could be bad worn out plugs and or wires. Replace both as sometimes spark plug wires tend to get stuck to the plugs and will be damaged when taking them off.
Bad Sensor - If a sensor suddenly goes out, who knows what type of crazy things will happen.
My advice is to take it to a shop and let them run a diagnostic on the ecu and see what they come up with.

Yeah optima's are REALLY nice batteries, but not worth the extra cash IMO. Unless you have some sort of crazy video/audio system in your car.
