Default Bumper options

Whats the best thing to do for your bumper when getting an exhaust kit?

A. Get a GT bumper. (You might get lucky and find a GT w/ a bumper the same color as your car which eliminated painting.)

B. Have the V6 bumper trimmed to fit the exhaust. (Ive heard some drawbacks to doing this.)

C. Buy a new after market bumper (not the stock GTs, but a different style) that has exhaust exits. Its something different, custom and could be better looking than a stock GT bumper swap.

Which should/would you do?

depends how much money you have.

Best bet is to get a new one and paint it....after that is the GT bumper....then if you are cheap as dirt cut your bumper but i would never do that

What are some good looking aftermarket bumpers to consider. Also what concerns me is that they wouldnt look that good without a full body kit (matching front bumper, and side skirts to go with it). But all I want is a bumper

Thats why you just get a GT bumper. If you put an aftermarket one if definetly will look bad without the full side skirts/front bumper.

I may do that. But no one offers a new bumper designed to line up with the stock body lines. How much should I expect to pay for one in a junkyard?

Well the bumper is scratched badly on the back (from previous owner) and the paint is starting to crack and peel on the top of it from a rearend incident last year. So I guess thats an excuse for me to get a new bumper.

you could do what i wanna do and find an 03 cobra bumper and fill in the cobra letters w/ body filler or somethin then repaint it.

Thats where it gets tricky. You dont want to get the exhaust installed with the 6 bumper if you plan to use a GT bumper later. But you dont want to drive around with a GT bumper and two empty wholes with a single exhaust while you wait to install the duals. So Id have them both done at once.

And amrcnidyot. I thought about the cobra bumper but the cobra letters on it is why I did not consider it. A GT bumper will be ok. And hey Autobadges, is there an after market bumper that does not use a whole body kit (the front bumper and side skirts) and will fit with the stock body trim.
