Default Tinted window prob

Went to get my 2000 v6 tinted and dude tells me that rear window has some sort of factory stuff stuck on it ( look like a thousand dots across top, close to roof ) that won't allow tint to stick. So tells me to just tint up tp the dots... you guys know anything about this- or is this rat just a lazy ***?[:@]

you can tint it but it will slowly peel off, what most people do is put a black vinyl sticker across it

Thanks, you kow, that's what he suggested although most stangs seem to be fully tinted. I've honestly never noticed those dots- wonder what ford stuck 'em on there for ?!

A good tint shop would sand down the dots and tint right over it.. Sanding it down will allow the tint to stick. Many shops also just put the vinyl strip across it.

To keep the sun from reflecting into your rear-view.

And my window tint is lifted in teh corners, but otherwise is fine and it is over the dots.

Yes it can be tinted, but the dots have to either be sanded down, or covered by a vinyle sticker (or whatever you want to call it) so that the tint can be stuck over the dots. Now you can just tint over the dots, but if you don't get every little air bubble out of there it may begin to peel up or suffer serious bubble problems over time.

the owner of my car before me had the windows tinted and they did all the way up. it started to peel really bad a while ago so i carefully ripped it off right along the line of the dots...no the rest of the back is startin to get some little bubbles and crap but i dont have the money to get it fixed. life sucks
