Oops 8.8", my bad, forgot what forum I was in, but the 7.5" is still good for around 250 rwhp I believe.

Damn, look at all the bad info. The Ford T-Lok was designed to handle roughly 300 rwhp, after that they would have a tendency to shatter under the pressure. They're good up to 250, but after that they get a little iffy.
you are dead wrong.

the 7.5 T-lok is nothing but a stock replacement part# for Bronco II's and Rangers that came with the anemic 2.9L V6 which made 120flywheel hp and was a T-lok option for them.

why do you think ford didn't use the 7.5 in the GT????? because the 7.5 T-lok is weak as hell and they didn't want to issue recalls on blown differentials on their mustangs.

the open differential or T-lok which is the same except with 2 Ssprings and clutch packs are weak as hell. the spyder gears a small ans weak with little support. they have been known to shed spyder gear teeth on stock 5spds with hard launches.

hell i have even broke 8.8 stock T-loks too with just stock 98 cobra power.

the t-lok really isn't a strong design 7.5 or 8.8.

the T-lok was never designed to handle 300rwhp. if you think they were please show me proof

well exactly why i made the thread. Why spend ~$500 when you can get away with ~$200 with the Tlok. Facts are what i was lookin for.

good point....well put it this way. with the tlok you can get away with it sometimes but the trutrac is definatly worth it, almost bullet proof lol.

Everyone is always endorsing the Detroit T-lok. whats the difference from that to Ford Racing T-Lok Differential(beside the price tag)?

I had the FRPP T-lok and had absolutly no problems with it. I drag raced and autocross raced. For 90-95% of the mods going on here, it's just fine. But if you go F/I, I'd recommend the true trac unit. It will cost just aboot double, but it is a much stronger unit.
