Default Port/Polishing Intake

I've barely started looking into this, but have any of you ported/polished your intake yourself? Seems like a pretty hefty project. Are the result even worth it? I found one link that really helped.

Polishing gets rid of all the dirt and gas build up, which gets rid of blockage that can slow down air. NO, do not try to port your intake yourself unless you're 100% sure you know what you're doing. Bring it to a machine shop or buy a pre ported system.
