Thinking about getting a power pack....

For the same reasons you just don't go out and buy a sniper, edlebrock rpm, or anyother high flow intake for a stock 5.0L. Too much air will drastically throw off the air to fuel mixture and without the right combo, you can ruin your engine. Also, those intakes are made for a certain rate of air flow, so even if they don't throw off the a/f mixture, you're basically shooting fish in a barrel as you're spending all that extra money for no reason at all. GET WHAT YOUR CAR REQUIRES, NOT WHAT SOUNDS COOL.

to be perfectly honest, jthorn, you're retarded. the heads are what hold back most of the power on 3.8's. getting stage 3 with bigger valves may not add as much power as it can or at the best spot in the rpm range without other supporting mods like exhaust and a cam, but it will add a lot, and if you're going to have the heads off anyway, why not do it right the first time. i'm with clif. and anyone that gets aftermarket heads and doesnt get any sort of tuning done shouldn't be modding their car anyway. just cause your car went lean doesnt mean every car ever goes lean and that it's a horrible uncorrectable problem, get over yourself and your dyno sheets and your bolt on gt.

when did Jthorn get dyno sheets.
i think the power pack would be a great way to go. i really dont think a stage three would hurt since your upgrading the whole top end. maybe a bigger injector size would help once installed along with a bigger MAF. you are getting more air so how do you solve the offset? MORE FUEL. i'm going to get a powerpack for my 4.2L 5 speed f150 once i get the money and my warranty is gone (yeah........right) and that goes straight to a stage 3. it doesnt even recommend a stage 2 for my application. i guess if the stage 3 doesnt come out right its more of a reason to add a supercharger right?? lol

thats grand, coming from you...
and in all of my years of working on cars and racing (at a track, not on a dyno or bench) ive never heard of someone changing the intake manifold and ruining the engine...unless they dropped a tool inside the engine while it was apart...going to the improper intake manifold for a particular setup will hurt the performance, but it wont increase the air flow enough to lean the engine out to the point of "ruining it". its not forced induction..just smoother flow.
