T-lok
No car is idiot-proof, but as you admitted, some people drive like that.
You can also break a stock engine by over-revving it, does that make it inferior? No, it's more likely the fault of the driver who doesn't know what he's doing.

no, people here DON'T launch their cars or get very many performance mods. that's my point. how many people in here other than yourself, autobadges, and MAYBE 2 or 3 others have anything really serious done to their car? hell, how many people that actually talk about getting gears actually do it anyway?

more torque=more shock. i understand the concept sweetie
oh btw, i meant torque has more of a tendency to break things compared to horsepower in my previous post. it was in reference to when cobra232 said 5.0's had as much power as a split port

splitports were 190ish and 220ftlbs. pretty much even in power. 84 was the last year for the 7.5 in the GT too
meh.. not to really fuel the fire, but someone in the local stang club with a TT v6 replied about the whole t-lok thing.
Have to agree - with a change. Torque SHOCK kills rears. If you're gentle on the drivetrain, it won't break at 300+ ft/lbs, but if you're dropping the hammer every day, get an 8.8 with a Tlok.
I've had my stock 7.5 on the first twin turbo setup and it was fine, but you do hear about people breaking the stock rear (7.5) with minor bolt ons and sticky tires.
Maybe it's the torque differential between the tires and the clutch - bigger sticker tires + clutch dumps put a lot more strain on the rear end than street tires and feathering.

huh? because it can save a lot of money if you can swap out a rear end instead of buying an expensive limited slip and paying a shop to install it. you can even find rear ends already geared how you want them to be and you'll have more gear choices with an 8.8.
