Do by losing sound control mean the way some of those old camero's sound when you rev it up? You get all the cracking sound, cause that'd definately not what I want. I'm looking for a softer rumble, where it's distinctive but not quite overpowering.
Now back to on topic. Sorry, my post whoring is comming to an end. After the BS the mods started with me over it, amonst other things, I'm through with it, never intentionally did it in the first place, just kind of happened, but in any since, I'm gonna only talk about the topic at hand, and be direct as possible.

The X pipe has better controle in that it maintains it's sound better. It's really hard to describe, but easier to hear. H pipes tend to get a little raspy up top, which is kind of like that poping sound, but it's not either. Main difference is x pipes hold the sound of the mufflers, while h pipes release the higher pitched sound of the engine which is also why they're a little louder. Like I said, very hard to describe the difference, but it's easy as hell to hear, however, both will pop when you let off the gas, that's somthing that really can't be helped.

why does this even really need discussion? you can't describe the differences very well and one could easily tell the difference from clips of exhaust setups.

There you go ^^^^^^ do what juggy said. Doesn't matter wheather or not it's a V6 or V8, you can hear the difference between the two, even on online clips.

Quick little question, suppose I buy an x-pipe. Would I then be able to use a gt exhaust system?

You pretty much have to. Just make sure you get an x pipe for a V6, GT x pipes won't hook up right, but you will need a V8 catback exhaust system.
