taking off the cats will improve the sound of your stang a LOT. it is also not as easy as taking them off and welding a straight pipe in place of them. there are 2 sets of them on each pipe. one is way up kinda buy the manifolds. you would ahve to bend the pipe and put a flange on. it would probably be better to buy an offroad x or h pipe. they are usualy only like 200 or less. it shoud sound mean as hell though.

You can get some high flow cats that will give you the same sound/power but still be legal for emissions.

Take it to a shop if your going to have them cut out. Becuase of the bent pipe and needing a lift, you wont be able to do it effectivly. I heard a v6 firebird the other day without cats and it was alot more agressive than w/. I dont know about your state, but here in MD its illegal to remove your cats, 10,000 fine[:'(]...

Making a "custom xpipe" is easy if you have a pipe bender, but seeing as how you dont, itd be more cost effective to buy a market one than pay someone time and pipe to make a cheap one. No cats, a crossover pipe, and flows should be pretty nice...
