1.) Cheaper to buy
2.) Cheaper on insurence
3.) Much cheaper parts
4.) Mod selection (litterally tons of mods, and brands to choose from, probably 2-3X more than the 4.6L)
5.) Easier to work on/with
6.) You'll get much more respect from people for some reason, because a lot, and I mea A LOT of people look at the 5.0L Mustang as the God of Mustangs, even though the newer ones are much faster stock for stock.

Anything from 87-95 are good years for the 5.0L, but 89-91 seem to be the penicle years for the 5.0L. The 94-95 5.0Ls are better built than the older ones, but a little harder to get parts for as it was only made for 2 years, but there is still a lare selection availible.

they can go 250+ no problem...and it's not going to cost a lot to rebuild one so i wouldn't be too scared of mileage

Exactly, you can fully rebuild/upgrade a 5.0L for very little, well, it's not exactly cheap, but the over all price is still cheaper than buying a new 4.6.

ORIGINAL: africkanV6

what do yall think is a better buy? an edge GT or a 5.0 foxbody
IF you;re looking for a performance car, buy a Fox mustang. Leave the SN-95 stangs alone unless you have boo-koo bucks to spend on 'em. Or get an Edge GT, thats what imma reccomend.

Well if you get a 94-95 then you'll have a very similar interior to what you have now. Forged parts vary because it goes by kit, are you gonna get a stock 302 kit, or a 306, 327, 331, 347 stroker kit? It all depends on the kit.

^ It doesnt need to be a kit, theoretically with the right bore and stroke you can make any CI small block you want, within reason. If you're gonna buy one of these things for a perfromance only vehicle, like a weekend warrior, I'd reccomend using the money on buying a 351W block and putting money into that. stronger block, much easier to get hp/displacement from, and one of the easier swaps to make in a 5.0L mustang. Just a taller deck height and thicker webbing.
