Default x pipe useless??????

my friends uncle has a muffler shop and i asked how much itd be for a true dual exhaust with an offroad x pipe and tips for my 2000 v6. he says that the x pipe on a v6 is almost pointless, and wnt make any differance for a v6 but cost more, and he sayshe wouldnt do it.so he said he could do a true dual setup with straight pipes(or somethingsimilair, i forgot exactly what)and tips for $250.

my questions are: is the x pipe really useless on a v6? also, wat kind of sound and performance will i get for the setup he has planned for me? what would be theoptimum exhaust setup for a v6 mustang?

thanx everyone

In essence you dont NEED an x/h pipe, cause the 6er doesnt need to even out the backpressure. But aparantly the midpipes do sound better..(never heard them myself)

mostly because the stock cats are real restrictive, remove two and you get better sound and more power than a y-pipe bolt-on or H adapter

I heard x/h pipe gives it a more hollow, lower sound, sort of like the old muscle cars.. Rather then flowmaster 40's with trual duals. They suck, my buddys got them on his 98 v6.. he only sounds loud when hes pushin 4000+ rpms. Then he jsut sounds like a civic.

Sure... you don't NEED a midpipe. In fact, you don't NEED a pipe at all.

You've all heard the guy who dumped right at the headers. You also know is sounds horrible.

Straight pipes aren't as bad as ^, but they still aren't great. They're an improvement on no exhaust at all, but they still don't sound as sweet as an X or H pipe.

I don't know why the guy won't do it. It's an opportunity for him to make more money. Is he stupid or something?
