High Idle problem, please help.
My brother has a 1994 Mustang V6. The fuel sender for the pump was leaking so I dropped the tank and replaced the sender. I put the tank back up but now the car idles high. I tested the fuel pressure and it reads about 32 with regulator hose attached and about 40-42 with it unattached. I throught the return line may be clogged so I disconnected that but it still idles high. The car didn't do this until the I put a new sender in it. I'm not sure if its coincidence that the problem started when I put the tnak on or if its something else. Any suggestions?
has nothing to do with the fuel sender but it could be our iac. it seems to cause a lot of problems in the 3.8. just take it off and spray a bunch of carb cleaner in it to help clean it out. i would also disconnect the battery and leave it fora min or so then reconnect it...this being after you removed the iac...then take it for a nice drive for at least 10 miles in city traffic with a lot of stops and gos. that way the computer can relearn everything.
More than likely coincidence, check the IAC, make sure the bellows is busted and it is not stuck, you may need to clean it. The sender cannot adjust idle speed. If the IAC is not the case, check for vacum leaks. Since you know its called "Engine managment" you should have already checked this/ or should know how to.
and yes people know about em on this board, but reacting like that, most ppl will ignore you.
