So it takes the same computer and everything? just unhook the electronics, pull engine, drop in, and plug in(other then the intake and exhaust)?

I think i have a project for when my warrenty runs out

Why swap motors...dont they make a stroker kit
a 40,000 mile junkyard 4.2 can be found for $400-$600 which is alot less then rebuilding with a stroker kit.

neutral balance 4.2 will bolt right in place of the 3.8. the only thing is needed is to swap over the mustang upper intake and exhaust manifolds and plug all the wireing and fuel line back in.

easy swap that can be done in 6 hours and 3 cases of beer
Aah thank you that course does make more sense now

there may be a few sensors that need to be swapped over from the 3.8 to the 4.2 for the right connector but the location of the sensors is pretty much the same. also the front accessories need to be swapped onto the 4.2 from the 3.8 but you won't get the 4.2 accessories anyways. tensioner and idler need changed and the AC will need recharged if you unhook the hoses but try not to unhook them. it may be impossible to do without unhooking them but there is a chance it can be done

The only drawback to doing the swap and not the stroker kit id the lack of forged internals. Sure it's a 4.2 but it still has the stock rods, rings, and pistons. But for the price it sure isn't a bad idea. Personally I'll go with the stroker.

stock engines can take alot of abuse. yes a stroker kit is better but alot more expensive and doesn't come with the main girdle that the factory stock 4.2 has

also a junkyard engine can easily be worked on outside the car. the intakes can be taken off and ner rockers lifters and cam can be added and the oil pump rebuilt in the front cover when it's off too.

4.2 junkyard swap is a very overlooked option

if you can pull an engine yourself it's easy. also for singleports instead of doing just a splitport swap just get the whole 4.2 and get ahold of a mustang upper intake and modified fuel rail and you have just went from 145/150 hp and 215 ftlbs to 202hp and 255 ftlbs. 17 sec car becomes a15.5 or better car with just the swap

My first project is rebuilding the rear end into simething worthwhile. This will be my second, a 4.2 litre junk swapper fully rebuilt. I'll probably start shopping soon. ^_^

and how much rwhp would that put me at, with and without the 100 shot!

about 180-185 NA and 260rwhp with the 100shot but the torque would be insane with the 100shot. probably about 340ftlbs. good enough for low 13's with the giggles and mid to low 15's NA easy and most likely around 14.6ish is not out of the question

My guess would be a wrecked F150.
