4.2 liter

As far as swapping engines, yes. I'd personally stroke it, but that's me. With the stroker you're getting new internals, and that's what the wear of how ever many miles you have on there would be on anyway. Also with the stroker you're not limited to 4.2. You can do 4.3 and even 4.4.

Heh, who said I'd just drop a stock 4.2 in? Trust me, I'd buy a lot of **** off of supersix, too. And yeah, would you just drop the engine in, connect the cpu and tranny and go? Would the CPU from our mustangs talk to the engine in the same way? Would any functionality be lost? Has anybody actually done this and shown what it'd do in the end?
Question: is the 4.2 litre block found in the F150's stronger and thicker? I remember hearing that the larger the original displacement the larger the bore it can handle. Also, would boring to 4.4L make the engine weaker? I plan on cramming a metric ****ton of air into any engine I rebuild, so block strength is definitely an issue. My goal is definitely a LOT higher than 300 horsepower.

Ok this is sounding good, so the 4.2 from an f150 is a direct replacement...Would I be able to use my current headers and exhaust with it. What about the CAI...Also would the heads and cam for a 3.8 work

oil pan may need changed too from the 3.8 to 4.2
yes if you use the mustang upper intake which is required to clear the hood then the CAI will work.
the only difference in a 3.8 to 4.2 is the crank stroke/rods/pistons/balancer/flywheel and main girdle.
a 3.8 can be converted to a 4.2 as they share the same block IE bore diameter

No, the cylinders are the same. The reason the 4.2 is bigger is cause the block is the same, but the crankshaft is larger, which moves the pistons farther, making the combustion chamber larger.
