I drive an 00 v6 auto and it's a good looking car, but it's not made for racing people and smokin 'em on the streets. It's really a mustang for looks rather than the speed, but you can easily mod her up to make her a pretty mean machine. I don't know any of the times and stats, but some of the guys here can give you some good advice.

I say a 6'er is a great first mustang, I love my 00 and she's beautiful. It's a good car to learn on before getting one of the v8's.

I have a 2000 auto with mods and I love it. Yes I would like a V8 more but I was stuck with the cheaper insurance as well. There are plenty of Mods you can do to get your V6 flying. Talk to matthockey and he'll point you in the right direction for some sweet 1/4 times. The only thing in my car stock is pretty much the gears besides engine porting, but because I dont have gears my car runs its *** off in top end. If I had a nice set of gears I'd probably be looking at some 14's in the 1/4. Hope this helps. Overall get a manual if you want to get thrown into your seat and chip the tires. Happy Driving and looking for a Mustang!

the 3.8 engine will last forever if you take care of it. you can look at anything between 99-04 and have the same body style. if you want a v6 do not drive a GT, it will make the v6 feel slow and unresponsive to the throttle.

with around $2000 in parts with proper tuning you can hang with a stock 99+ GT. tuning and install cost more. i have spent around $2000 in parts and installed everything myself. i had a freind help tune the on a dyno and it cranks out 236.7 whp @ 5800 RPM and 251.8 ib-ft of trq @ 2700 rpm. that is more RWHP than a 99+ GT
