Default is this normal?

Usually, when I turn my car on my rpms jump up to about 1,500 rpms, and it stays there for a good minute.

If I put my car in Drive (automatic obviously), say instantly, my car gives a little jump and goes down to about 500-800 rpms. Now my tranny has been serviced recently and it shifts beautifully.

If I wait the minute, my car doesnt do the little jump. It will just shift nice and smooth.

Is this a problem or is it normal?
