It's 12.5 volts, not 13.5.

And the purpose of the alternator is to power eletrical accessories while the car is running, and to charge the battery/keep it charged while the car is off.










The battery is 12V but it needs a minum of 13.5 volts to charge it. Anything less means it won't charge the battery.

BTW. Not trying to be a smart azz but if you don't know for sure how something works you shouldn't say anything that might misinform people.
I thought you meant the battery itself. To charge it, yeah, it needs more obviously.
