Default Help with 04 V6 washer pump

Okay, this is my first mustang, I almost got one in 1998, but at the time I liked the ZX2. That was a quick little car for a 4 cylinder. So the ZX2 broke down (fuel pump)andI told the wife, "I think its a total loss." She was resistant at first but she was like "Go ahead and get you a new car."So off to the dealership I went...

I decided on an 04 Mustang V6 3.8 manual.Nice car... Well maintained and looks great.

Well I couldn't drive it for 2 days due to snow and ice, but when I took it out finally , I kept having to pull over because the windshield washer wouldnt work. It was 20 dgrees, so I thought maybe it was frozen. Its been beautiful here the past couple of days and no dice. I tried finding the washer pump, but I couldnt find it. Is it inside the fender?

Any help would be appreciated.

They gave me a powertrain warranty. I am happy with the deal I got on the Stang, this is something I would like to do unless I got to remove the fender, in that case I am prolly gonna escalate to the Service manager...

Is there anything in the reservoir?

If not, you need todisconnect the front section of your passenger side inner fender and look at the motor. Have someone hit the washer with the key on and see if it turns on, use your hand to feel for the vibration or listen closely.

If it does come on, remove it and check for a blockage or possibly a dry- rotted hose. If there is no blockage then remove the hose to see water is coming through it.

If water is going through the pump but not making it to the squirters then you may have a leaking hose.

If it does not come on, check your fuses, or check for power to the pump with a test light. If it is getting power and not coming on, it has failed and needs replacement.

If all of these check out to be ok, then you may have clogged squirters, it's easy to get them clogged with wax, it then hardens and blocks flow. I have one that has that problem now, and I need to clean it out. You canfix it using a needle and patience to cleanthem out.

I'll ask the service guy where it is and let everyone know...
