FYI, the reason red and in some parts yellow cars are more expensive to insure is because in police and law enforcement training, red or yellow is used to highlight things of interest, etc.

I live in KUNA too!!! HAHA that is too funny! APRIL 1st?? That would be awesome to go see, but I don't know, I'd be by myself, never been to a race by myself before, always been with hubby or hubby and my dad.
i was told by my insurance co that red, yellow, orange, or any bright color make ustand out more there for makin u more prone to causin a distraction on the road, maybe they dont know wat they are talkin about, GOOD LUCK on the car tho, its not bad but i would rather buy from a private seller

OK guys this color topic got me curious so I called my insurance company and she had never heard of such a thing (she laughed at me). They go by drivers age, where you live, cars age, engine size (number of cylinders) and safety featurs such as air bags, anti theft and so on but NOT color. So color has no bearing on rates, at least not in California.

Hmmm just thinking, I have a red 97 Mustang and a orange 05 Neon sxt. I'm getting the paint brush out and making them white. I just had to put my 2 cents in on this one. What was the original topic. Oh ya the car, I drive for a dealer that gets the cars from auctions. They sell a bunch of cars and just really go for the market of people with bad credit. If you can't get a loan the dealer maybe able to get you in that car. But my 97 has 82,000 miles on it. But if you feel it's in great shape think about it. Good luck!!

Just letting everyone know that insurance companys dont need to ask you what color your car is, cause when you do a vin check it will come up do to factory title. In kansas the copsstop red cars more then any other, I was told that byd.a.r.e. officers when i was in grade school too, going through there little course.
In other states/countrys/countys its different for insurance companys, but most of the time its a combo of if you got tickets, wrecks, your age, vehicle, manual or auto on the vehicle, type of vehicle, vert, coupe, sedan, orstation wagon.
To some its a myth and others its not.
Just trying to help the kid out with things and I know everyone else is too, but we dont need a arguement on here about this.
So please end it with the myth or not myth on the color, thanks.
Good Luck on getting the stang you want.

Call any insurance company to get a free quote, Not a one will ask you what color it is and they will NOT ask for a vin number either. They only get the vin if you buy from them.
OK guys, since we are waaaay OT anyway.
RED is one of, if not the MOST POPULAR COLORS FOR SPORTS CARS. It's not the color of the car, it's the type of car that stand out more. Red Camry's aren't exactly flooding new car lots. The color thing is merely a coincidence. THink about it, when you're sitting at a light do you notice the 40 other cars that went through or the Shelby GT500 in RED????? All sports cars tend to stand out in a crowd, it's just the purpose behind their design. Also people in sports cars tend to think that they own race cars, hence all the post asking "what top speed can my stock 94 v6 auto do." Therefore more of them get tickets and get in wrecks.
