A local shop might be a better idea. We charge 10 bucks at the shop I work at to scan the computer and delete the codes. 10 vs 200 seems like a no brainer to me
...
And still, that wont fix anything, it'll just tell u whats wrong.

I bought a code reader for my 95, and since the 95's have the OBD II systems, you can use a code reader that says for 96 and up years. It has saved me ALOT of money on labor costs, you're not really supposed to make repairs on items based on the codes that are on it, but I have and have not had any problems. I've saved a lot of money that way.
all 94+ v6's were OBDII
instead of a code scanner why not spend alittle more and get an SCT tuner. $379 for the tuner and it will read and erase codes and you can do alot more with it like raise the top speed limiter raise the rev limiter, tune for higher octane and much more
vmptuning.com carries them
