Default Code reader?

I want to buy a code reader. to get the check engine code. What do i need?
will this work.http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16318 i know it says 1996 and newer but i think my 1995 has the obd II plug on it. some one please clear this up. thanks!!

to the odometer/tripometer trick and u got a built in DTC reader

oh and if ur a 04 it may say oil pressure switch failure but its nothing wrong mine does it also and i got ford to scan it and a guy on 3.8 forum said its a common thing with some year new edges

A local shop might be a better idea. We charge 10 bucks at the shop I work at to scan the computer and delete the codes. 10 vs 200 seems like a no brainer to me...

And still, that wont fix anything, it'll just tell u whats wrong.

just go to autozone or one of those chain auto parts stores i think they do free scans and if not free it dirt cheep

I bought a code reader for my 95, and since the 95's have the OBD II systems, you can use a code reader that says for 96 and up years. It has saved me ALOT of money on labor costs, you're not really supposed to make repairs on items based on the codes that are on it, but I have and have not had any problems. I've saved a lot of money that way.

all 94+ v6's were OBDII

instead of a code scanner why not spend alittle more and get an SCT tuner. $379 for the tuner and it will read and erase codes and you can do alot more with it like raise the top speed limiter raise the rev limiter,tune for higher octane and much more

vmptuning.com carries them

tuner FTW,I got diablo and got rid of some trouble codes.just cleared them.If u plan on modifying the car u will need a tuner anyway.

where is a good place to buy the "SCT tuner" I live about 40 mins for anywhere so i want to have my own code reader/scanner/tuner. thanks for the help.
