Default convertible

is a convertible mechanically different from its coupe counterpart? ive noticed that some parts have little disclaimers that say (will not fit on convertible)
like when i was looking for dual exhaust http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/XPipe.htm

and i saw it in my mustangs unlimited catalogue under long tube headers

what does a convertible top have to do with anything in the engine bay or the undercarriage?

the longtube headers run under the car and i imagine right where the subframe connectors connect the front and rear panels. i don't think it is quite that extreme but i'm pretty sure that is the fitment issue. some guys on here should be able to give a more precise answer

I did.pretty much everyone who owns a vert or has looked into one. most verts, even the '05+ weigh a little more because of the reinforcements to replace the rigidity provided by a hard roof coupe. (Ford was so proud of the smallest weight gain by a vert they really made it clear in the '05('06) rollout.)

Yep, the verts have a lot of added structure under them. The top counts for alot (that is why the targa top conversion is a joke without MAJOR work).

A lot of the exhaust stuff doesn't match up right dueto the differences under the car.

Default 2003 v6 convertible help!

My wife came home yesterday saying she looked at a 2003 mustang convertible - white with white leather interior- and wanted me to look at it. The Sales guy said it was a GT. They wanted $22,000 CDN for it. I went to see it that same day and I noticed it was NOT a GT! It was aV6 automativ with what looks like the premium package. The funny thing was it had dual exhaust. Was this a factory option? And how much do you think one should pay for this? Ita has 58,000 km ( 36,000 miles) on it. Thnaks!

Thats because Mustangs Unlimited dont know what they are talking about. I emailed MAC a while back to question this fitment issue and they said that they fit the vert no problem, dont know where lots of these companies get their information from.. The only one they will not fit is the 98 V6(coupe/vert)

If you look underneath the car u will see alot more bracing than the coupe. First there are the subframe connectors. Then you can notice a cross brace underneath the control arms(lowest point of the undercarriage)

Im guessing since the Canadian dollar is pretty close to the USD im guessing $22K would be aroung $18KUSD. Im gonna say that is way too much to pay for a V6. even with low miles like that, you can find a 99+ GT for cheaper
