knocking
just depends on the company and what they look at
a friend of mine went from a cougar to a wrx and his dropped in 1/2 because he went from a 2 door sports car to a 4 door and went to a AWD with traction control and abs they didnt even pay attention to the fact that he gained a turbo and doubled HP and now it just went back up because he sold the wrx and got a SRT4 and it doesnt have AWD with TC and ABS so it went back up some but its still not as much as the cougar because it is still considered a 4 door sedan
and another friend of mine gets even lower insurance because he got a wrx with upgraded turbo and exhaust but it was a wagon with AWD TC and ABS so it is low insurance

the exhaust leak is a very real possibility and i probably need to look at that but it doesnt make the knockin noise when im cruising or idling its just when i go up a hill or somthing
but the beauty of the engine swap is that the VIN still says v6 but im not sure if they have some way to find out if i did drop a v8 in it

wow.
all he has is detonation. period. his valves are pinging going up hills
run seafoam through the tank and 1/3 of the can through the PCV line going to the intake and let it sti shut off for 5-10 minutes and start it back up again. that will get rid of carbon deposits on the valves and in the intake which cn cause pinging. change the PCV valve while your at it. if that doesn't work try a higher octane gas. if it stops pinging with the higher octane gas then change you spark plugs to the ones below and go back to regular to see if pinging is still present
here are the plugs

if those are too expensive the get autolite 103's
