Default steering pump

anyone ever had a problem with this? out of nowhere when i turn it makes a very loud squeak , it isnt just a loud steering pump, i noticed that it was loud before, now it sounds like something is messed up...

i dont know exactly what it is, but also now when i am in a gear and its about to stall (when your in traffic and you are going 10mph in 2nd gear, your car rumbles until it gets enough power) when it rumbles it sounds like theres a missing bolt that is jumping around in the steering rack..

anyway... anyone else have any troubles like this?

the power steering pumps on our cars have a tendency to fail, it costs $45 at advance auto parts and takes about an hour to swap out. however make sure you have enough fluid and that there is not a leak anywhere before replacing the pump

i really have no experience with this, how do i check for leaks? the fluid level is more than enough(i added just a bit when it was still good) and does the pump come with installation instructions?

get a haynes manual, it will have instructions. it's really not that hard, all you need to do is get a power steering pump pulley puller whihc you can rent from any auto parts store. if your fluid is not low then it probably isn't leaking.

i searched and found this:
hey guys don't worry about it there is two ways to fix this common problem, either slit a hole in the rubber boot and shoot in some lube or you can go to pepboys and by two new tie rods for 70 bucks and have somebody throw them in it's pretty cheap. If your handy you can do the job yourself but I would just have somebody throw them in that has a lift. FORD didn't use greasable fitting for there bushings so everybody will run into this problem at some point!
is that right? and what rubber boot...?
