By cutting some off you are letting more air get in and it draws cold air from the fender still. If you just remove it warm engine air can get it too.

Would cutting 3' off of the silencer make it quieter then having it completly taken off ? because I heard by removing the silencer I will gain power and my engine will be louder.

So I should just rip it out then right? Because if there's no difference between two, might as well make it sound better...

The only thing you'll hear is air getting sucked into the motor. I would rather hear the exhaust or stereo than that.

I've got a quick question about the air silencer. I took mine off today, and noticed whay you all said about how it willsuck in hot air. Would it be possible to make something that would kind of make a seal between the filter and the fender opening? Kind of like using the air silenceer, but it just blocks the hot air from the engine, and only allows air in from the filter. Coudl you also run some sort of pipe, kind of like a CAI pipe that goes down to the front bumper, cut out the black inserts on the bottom right corner, and make like a sort of ram air type thing? I'm just curious because I've got nothing better to do right now for a while other than work.

What I did was cut the silincer off flush with the opening in the fender so it gets cool outside air and not hot engine air. It can flow more air and it's not noisy.

I just don't want to cut mine because I may sell it in a couple years, and some **** guy might make me replace it for something. Noise doesn't bother me though.

i thing he means cut the piece that the silencer attatches to so that more of the filter is exposed to the air u pritty much just have a ring with a 1 to 3 inch lip hilding the filter in place insteda or the pirce that is their now that still basicaly covers 60% of the filter and that way almost the entire filter is exposed
