Default RE: odometer

Driving under the influence is a pretty dumb move. That being said, there is a technical question on the table that sure could use an answer (at least as far as I'm concerned...). I have the same problem with a 95 Mustang I just bought. The title was issued in 2004 with an 84K odometer reading and I bought it last week with the exact same reading. Needless to say this thing hasn't been working for a long time. The trip meter and the rear plate lamps are inop too. Checked the fuses and they're all fine. I ran a search on this forum and this seems to bea common problem, but I can't nail down the actual cause.

Sure could use the help.
