Mooses, my shop manual and the Master Tech at the shop I go to both say it's a 6.6

Besides, the ID tag on the diff itself says it's a 6.6 No joke. But still, will I have a better time with acceleration?

It might do something. Mostly, it's just stronger. And there are a few more options on gear ratios. But you do have the t-lok, which will help.

That's odd, I'm assuming you aren't the original owner? I don't see how it got on there, I don't even know if ford has a 6.6 rear.

In 98 the stock ratio for stick cars was 2.93. You had the the option to get a 3.27 but only with a stick. The auto always came with 2.73s
I found this on modulardepot, and it's the only thing I could find about an 8.8 out of a 98 GT. Basically if this is correct, then if the GT you got yours out of was a manual, then it will increase your acceleration. Of course, I can't say that for sure because I have no idea what gears you have currently in your rear.

It is out of a manual. As far as I know, it has the 3.73 gears inside it...

Here's a pic of the ride it's going on:

Keep in mind I changed the headlights (the whole assembly) a couple days ago and haven't gotten a pic of it yet.

yeah no 6.6 in Fords Mustangs. All 7.5 here, even if it wasnt factory, i dont belive ford made a 6.6. Make sure you change the fluid, and spray all the bolts down with WD40 or PB Blaster so it wont be such a pain in the ***.

The 94 to 98 model years had the 6.6

I did my homework on this one.
Sorry dude. 94-07 Mustang V6s use the7.5" rear end.Ford, to my knowlege, has never used any smaller inMustangs. 94+V8 stangs use the 8.8" rear end.

They guy that told you they use 6.6" was either confused, ora complete moron.

Dude, Ford does not make a 6.6" rear end, there is no way it's a 6.6". 94-98 V6 stangs come stock with an 7.5" rear end with 2.73 gears. 94-98 GTs come stock with an 8.8" rear end with 2.73 gears. SVO made a special edition 5.0 that was optional with 3.24 and 3.55 gear ratios.
