Default 8.8 Differnetial...

I got my 8.8 differential yesterday. I am planning on installing it this week, but I need some tips. Anyone know anything about this?

I've been pouring through the shop manuals that I have to get info, and I am ready. I just want the input of other gear heads. I am upgrading from a 6.6 BTW.

The 94 to 98 model years had the 6.6

I did my homework on this one.

Nice. I'd say disconnect the rear suspension from the body, that way you can remove the axles no problem. You might as well put new gears in it while you have it off the car...

Couldn't afford the new gears just yet. I have to install it as it is, though. My diff is going bad on me and it's pissing me off. I figured if I had to get a new diff, might as well get the better one.

I'll get new gears in the future, but hey, at least I can change my U-Joints while I have the shaft out...I already have those.

I love working at an auto part store because of the 20% discount on parts, yet I hate working with a bunch of yahoos that don't know squat.

Nice. Yeah, I know about those auto part store employees. Every now and then you get someone who knows what they're talking about, but most of the time they learn something everytime I go in.

That works...at least they're getting some form of useful knowledge.

Sunday'll be fun. I'm pulling apart the new diff to clean it out and give it a second inspection. It was on a GT that an old woman drove. She got hit from the front. Bent the frame, but the motor was not damaged, nor was the transmission, so I can safely assume the rear diff is okay. It was inspected once by a guy who is certified to do so. I'm still going to inspect it again, and put my synthetic gear oil in there. Make it run like a dream.

Just wondering though, what will the effect of upgrading from the 6.6 to an 8.8 be anyway?

94-04 v6 mustangs are all 7.5

edit: the 8.8 will be able to handle more power than your 7.5 stock for stock. the 8.8 also weighs a little more

edit2: assuming your 7.5 was stock, it didn't have a tlok, the 8.8 does
