8.8 Differnetial...

I checked it out, it has the 3.27's in it. Installed it last night. Took about 6.5 hours. I don't have many tools, so I made due with what I had. New question:
Will I need to get my speedo re-calibrated because of the different ratios or no? I've heard that I do, and I've heard that I don't. I thought it only mattered if you got a wider axle. Anyone got an answer for that?

Yeah you got a really good price, you may want to save the brake calipers in case one ever goes out on you. I got my 8.8 for free with only 2k mi on it, but I always snag cool as deals like that. I tend to give some stuff away myself every now and then.
3.23's - 3.27's, they still kinda suck lol. You'll be happy with that rear end no matter what, the most I can recommend is to replace the axle seals before you put it on the car. It takes all of 5 minutes to do them, and it's much easier off the car.

If you're limited in tools, you really need to make sure that all your bolts are really tight and use some loctite. It's not as crucial on the shocks, but the driveshaft bolts are very crucial.
And yes you will to recalibrate.

Wow, 6 1/2 hours, I hope your girlfriend was causing a good 6 hours of distraction lol. I've swapped rear axles so many times that I literally yank it off everytime I need to make an adjustment to my exhaust or something like that. It's so convenient to get it out of the way when you're under the car. I have aton of really pretty Snap-On tools, so all I need is air pressure and most jobs get deon pretty quick.

So, how badly off is my speedo right now? And thanks for the input. I'm running it over to Wild Pony later to have them calibrate it. I have the SCT tuner, so they can make it recognize the 3.27's with out any trouble at all.
Fortunately of me, we have those permanent speed limit signs with the speed read out on it. I think I'll cruise past it a few times to get a good idea of where the current calibration sits.
it shouldn't be but maybe 4-7mph higher than what you are actually doing, I remember when I put my 4.10's in my tuner was at my house so I drove home in a 55 and the car though it was doing about 80 according to the speedo. It was waaaaaaay off.

Mine shows I'm doing 85 when I'm going 65 MPH...pain in the ***. My tuner is being a bitch, and I can't set the ratios without the dealer software...unfortunately, my dealer is booked for the next week.
This is a bummer, I wish I could get my hands on a copy of SCT Advantage 3 software, but it's impossible.
