Default Hey all

Good day all, my names Ed and im new here and I have a few questions regarding my Mustang.

To start off it is a 1997 'Stang with the 3.8L Auto, AC, Power everything. I took it to the track afew weeks ago and here are my results:

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...weekend023.jpg

Average 80 Mph @ 18 seconds W/ 1 sec reaction time... Realisticley 17 second car?

The guy before me put short headers, new"High Pro"wires, "Cold air intake" as far as I know...

Ether way I am planing on a few mods now as I have had the car for a solid 9 months and have some ideas where I want to go with it.

My first step I think is a computer programer:
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/mach1sct.htm

Says 20 HP, 20 Torque and with my calculations thats about 1 sec off my 1/4...

After that I am thinking about a small super charger:
http://www.rpmoutlet.com/musv6ati.htm

My questions here are as follows: Do the throttle body spacers do anything? I cant see how but they are advertised ad 8 hp... Im not seeing it... Just the same as the pully under drive system... 15 Hp...? seriousley?

More importantley, how far can I push the drive line in the car? How strong is it and how long will it last. I have a little bolt on build sheet that "on paper" says I can muster 268 hpout of the poor little 6 for the tune of near 5k... Is this realistic for a computer programmer, pully over/ under drive system, spacer andSC?

I dont think I will need a new exhaust or intake so long as I keep the stock heads as they are however that being said, do any of you know if the headscan/ willhold up to the SC listed there?

Heres a pic of the car and thanks for your time guys.

A lot of people have had problems with rpm outlet, i refuse to buy from thembecause some of the horror stories i have read on here.
A tuner won't do much without more mods. If you go a supercharger first, then it woud do more. And those hp numbers are bs, throttle body spacer = absoutley nothing, udp's = about 2-4hp.
I think sn-95's came with headers, they don't start to restrict flow until 300+ hp. The only thing you should do, if anything, is get longtube headers.
Dual exhaust isnot a must, but you will need a more free flowing exhaust if youdo get a supercharger. Duals will give you an increase in horsepower and toruqe, better sound than that crappy stock single exhaust, plus better gas mileage, so why the hell not?
A 1 sec reaction time quite frankly sucks, you really need to work on that.
Did i get it all?

hold up! my sn95 has headers? my dad said they were shortyheaders but my friends were telling me they were just stock manifolds

and id take the bra and the ribbon off your car and get rid of the triangle wheels
they kill the look of our body style

An internal combustion engine is just one big air pump. I could see a big difference by facilitating this process. I fabricated my own cold air intake with a K&N filter and converted my single exhaust to dual exhaust with MAC mufflers. In addition, I swapped out the throttle body for a larger BBK model. All of this really helped. Right now, I'm shopping for a flash tuner. I have a Flash Tuner thread asking which is best, SCT, Superchips, or Diablo. On another forum, I've been advised that SCT is the best but I haven't made up my mind, yet.

A larger throttle body will do nothing, if anything it would kill some horsepower. If you have your upper and lower intake ported to match a throttle body, then it will give you some gains, but then and only then.

99-04 came with intake manifolds, i think sn-95's have headers stock.

The Bra was on there and will stay on thereuntill I paint it.Its on there due to the fact the paint under looks much worse then the bra... The tri angle wheels are there because engine is more impotant then looks (but yes, i do hate them) however lighter weight and wider dia wheelswill be next summer

I figured the pully and spacer were crap to begin with.

Im not so sure the dual exhause is worth it... If it doesent restrict the flow till300 HP and im running 150 stock... Id think the engine would need an overhaul when I start to produce those numbers. Most of what exhaustgets out of the engine is govonered by how big the exhaust ports are, no? theres a point to where it helps and thenjust over kill... How much can long headers and dual help? till the SC thoe.

^^^ k town stang,Do you have slips showing improvements with your mods? im sure the "Cold air intake" that takes air from the fenderthe guy put on before does dick all as well.

What kind of problems with RPM?

I know 1 sec is *** for reaction, gotta figure out a better way to hold the break and gas... Prehaps a line lock of some sort...

And as for the ribbons (one on the other side)... In in the Canadian Air Force, in 2 months il be working on CF 118's. I have family in the Army andfreinds inAfginhistan on tour. Above all eltse they will stay there.

The headers are good flowing until arround 300.
The stock exhaust system has a y pipe in it, that is why it is so constricting. It shoves exhaust gasses from 2 pipes into one of the same diameter. Dules will have 2 pipes running all the way back, so there is no craming of exhaust gassas.

welcome to the forum. lotsa friendly folks here, even those that will debate the issues, they're all good folk and mean well.

many equipment vendors in this business can make or break their reputation with customers who are also forum members here. from my casual lurking through selected threads I have seen manynegative stories about rpmoutlet, based on their school of hard knocks. but who knows, that outfit may do enough business outside forum members to keep them afloat.neway buyer beware.

I had the samebad reaction to the Robin mask on your car as others, hope you get the fix made soon.

ButI appreciate the ribbon, understanding the story behind it.
